Building a Professional Brand: Hannah's Personal Branding Photoshoot

See how Hannah's personal branding photoshoot at One Tree Studio helped her build a confident, professional online presence with modern headshots and lifestyle portraits perfect for LinkedIn and beyond.

Invest in Your Future

Whether you're entering the workforce, growing a business, or simply updating your professional image, branding photography is an investment that continues to work long after the session ends.

Your photographs become part of your personal brand, helping people feel like they've already met you before they ever shake your hand.

If you're ready to build a professional image that reflects who you are today and where you're headed tomorrow, we'd love to help create portraits you'll be proud to share.

First Impressions Matter

Your online presence often makes a first impression before you ever meet someone. Professional photography helps communicate confidence, credibility, and personality in almost any situation, from applying for your dream job and networking on LinkedIn to launching a business or growing a personal brand.

As a young professional beginning to build her online presence, Hannah wanted photographs that looked authentic, modern, and professional. Rather than overly formal corporate headshots, we focused on creating images that reflected who she is: confident, friendly, and relatable.

The result was a gallery of versatile portraits that can be used across LinkedIn, social media, websites, and future career opportunities.

Why Personal Branding Photography Matters

Professional branding images give you flexibility across every platform.

Instead of using the same cropped headshot everywhere, you'll have a collection of images that can be used for:

  • LinkedIn profiles

  • Professional websites

  • Social media

  • Email signatures

  • Conference bios

  • Job applications

  • Press features

  • Marketing materials

Having a variety of photographs allows your online presence to feel consistent while giving you options for different situations. Our team would love to create unique branding images that perfectly represent your professional self.

Preparing for a Branding Session

One of the easiest ways to create timeless branding photos is to keep your wardrobe simple.

For Hannah's session, we chose classic pieces with neutral colours that won't look dated a few years from now. The combination of denim, soft knit textures, and understated accessories created a professional look that still felt relaxed and approachable.

Simple styling also ensures the attention stays where it belongs: on you.

A Modern Approach to Professional Headshots

Modern branding photography is about much more than standing in front of a plain backdrop.

We worked with clean, natural light and simple, timeless styling to create portraits that feel fresh and current. Neutral colours and soft textures kept the focus on Hannah while creating a polished, editorial look.

The relaxed posing helped capture genuine expressions that employers, clients, and collaborators naturally connect with.

Signature Headshots for Personal Branding

If you’re looking for more than just a new LinkedIn photo, our Signature Headshot Session is designed with personal branding in mind. Instead of creating one traditional headshot, we use the session to build a versatile collection of professional portraits with multiple outfits, poses, backgrounds and looks. You’ll receive guidance throughout the session so your images feel natural, confident and authentic to you—not stiff or overly posed. The result is a gallery of polished images you can use across LinkedIn, your website, social media, email signatures, speaking profiles and other professional marketing materials. It’s a great option for anyone who wants their images to reflect not just what they do, but who they are and the professional brand they’re building.

Team Branding Photoshoot: Build Trust With the Faces Behind Your Business

Personal branding isn’t just for individuals—it can be powerful for entire teams, too. Our Team Branding Sessions are designed to create a collection of professional images that showcase your team’s personality, connection and energy while keeping your company’s visual identity polished and consistent. Rather than settling for a lineup of stiff, interchangeable headshots, we create a variety of images—from individual portraits to full-body poses and natural team interactions—that you can use across your website, LinkedIn, social media, marketing materials and more. It’s a great way to put real people behind your brand and help potential clients see the experience, professionalism and personality that make your team unique.

Branding Photo Shoot: Planning Stage

It was such a pleasure to serve the team at Allure Hair and Makeup!

In the weeks leading up to their photo shoot, we collaborated ideas with Allure on a shared Pinterest board. The main goal of the planning stage was to come up with a vision for the shoot. What would Allure’s brand colours be? Would we aim for light and airy shots, or dark and dramatic?

In the end, Allure went with a blush pink and beige colour palette with both light scenes and a dark and dramatic scene. Allure brought wardrobes to suit both scenes.

Behind the Scenes

Allure is a mobile bridal hair and makeup company, based out of Niagara, Ontario. Their team did their own hair and makeup at the studio before the shoot.

As each person finished getting ready, our studio team started photographing on the first scene. As we were photographing each person, the rest of the team could watch the images coming through on our iPad viewing gallery. It’s so great to have a group of friends together in the studio—everyone was encouraging each other as they saw the images coming in.

Look #1: Bright and Modern

The first look we achieved was a bright, modern scene with soft fabrics, pampas grass, and natural light (though we created the light using studio strobes, not natural light!).

We made sure the cuddle chair from Structube was full of soft pillows to create this warm lifestyle shot for each of the the ladies from Allure.

Look #2: Blush Pinks

For the next set, we photographed the team’s headshots on a custom-painted backdrop we built. which matched the blush-pink colour Allure chose in the planning process.

The paint colour we chose was Gray Ashlar by Behr.

For this look, we used the natural light coming in from the studio window with some enhancements from our studio strobes….and a fan!

Look #3: Dark and Dramatic

For the final look, we went in the opposite direction to create a high-contrast, black-on-black scene. For this look, we used the studio walls painted in Wrought Iron by Benjamin Moore.

The sofa is the “Chameleon” from Structube. The thing that is incredible about this sofa is that the arms can move into any position you want. They’re not attached to the sofa base. It’s such a versatile piece of furniture for posing clients!

#4: Group Shots

For the past few years, our studio team has been creating composite group shots for small teams. To do this, we take shots of each individual person and then select the best shot of each person to stitch together in Photo Shop to create a composite group shot. This method ensures that everyone likes how they look in the group shot!

#5: Branded Product Shots

After the photo shoot was complete, Allure left us with a few bags of their products. They have a line of lip gloss and lip sticks that we wanted to photograph in a similar style to the branding photo shoot. We tried to keep the light and airy feeling of some of the first looks in the photo shoot. Here’s a sampling of the looks we achieved.
