They wanted to have some headshots for their team along with some lifestyle and group shot photography. Branding Photo Shoot: Planning Stage
It was such a pleasure to serve the team at Allure Hair and Makeup!
In the weeks leading up to their photo shoot, we collaborated ideas with Allure on a shared Pinterest board. The main goal of the planning stage was to come up with a vision for the shoot. What would Allure’s brand colours be? Would we aim for light and airy shots, or dark and dramatic?
In the end, Allure went with a blush pink and beige colour palette with both light scenes and a dark and dramatic scene. Allure brought wardrobes to suit both scenes.
Behind the Scenes
Allure is a mobile bridal hair and makeup company, based out of Niagara, Ontario. Their team did their own hair and makeup at the studio before the shoot.
As each person finished getting ready, our studio team started photographing on the first scene. As we were photographing each person, the rest of the team could watch the images coming through on our iPad viewing gallery. It’s so great to have a group of friends together in the studio—everyone was encouraging each other as they saw the images coming in.
Look #1: Bright and Modern
The first look we achieved was a bright, modern scene with soft fabrics, pampas grass, and natural light (though we created the light using studio strobes, not natural light!).
We made sure the cuddle chair from Structube was full of soft pillows to create this warm lifestyle shot for each of the the ladies from Allure.
Look #2: Blush Pinks
For the next set, we photographed the team’s headshots on a custom-painted backdrop we built. which matched the blush-pink colour Allure chose in the planning process.
The paint colour we chose was Gray Ashlar by Behr.
For this look, we used the natural light coming in from the studio window with some enhancements from our studio strobes….and a fan!
Look #3: Dark and Dramatic
For the final look, we went in the opposite direction to create a high-contrast, black-on-black scene. For this look, we used the studio walls painted in Wrought Iron by Benjamin Moore.
The sofa is the “Chameleon” from Structube. The thing that is incredible about this sofa is that the arms can move into any position you want. They’re not attached to the sofa base. It’s such a versatile piece of furniture for posing clients!
#4: Group Shots
For the past few years, our studio team has been creating composite group shots for small teams. To do this, we take shots of each individual person and then select the best shot of each person to stitch together in Photo Shop to create a composite group shot. This method ensures that everyone likes how they look in the group shot!
#5: Branded Product Shots
After the photo shoot was complete, Allure left us with a few bags of their products. They have a line of lip gloss and lip sticks that we wanted to photograph in a similar style to the branding photo shoot. We tried to keep the light and airy feeling of some of the first looks in the photo shoot. Here’s a sampling of the looks we achieved.

After a little PhotoShop magic, we deliver a composited group photo created from everyone’s favourite individual shots. No more stress and frustration—just an incredible group shot where everyone looks their best!

Everyone chooses their best shot to put in the group photo.
Individual shots for the group composite can all be taken on the same day, OR different days—whatever works for you! People can visit the studio when it’s convenient for them.
New team members can easily be added to the group shot. Just send them to the studio and we’ll recreate your group shot without having to bring everyone back together to retake the group shot. We keep everyone’s headshots on file so that the group can change as needed.

We are SO VERY THANKFUL!
This year, it’s been such a pleasure to travel, meet amazing people, work with our fantastic team, and serve leading brands like Intel, Rogers, Chanel, and Canada Life.
We’ve travelled to Quebec City and Montreal for several big projects this year - and quite frankly, we love Quebec! Quebec boasts some seriously spectacular venues for large events. We were shooting at The Ice Hotel, Chateau Frontenac, Musée de la Civilisation, St. James Theatre, and Palais des Congrès, to name a few of our favourites.
We also had the pleasure of serving thousands of professionals with new headshots this year: both in our studio and on location at conferences and trade shows.
This has been a year of setting new records - like the conference headshots we shot on the 46th floor of the Bay Adelaide Centre in Toronto. That’s our highest elevation yet! And the Hockey Hall of Fame photo booth - that set our record for most hockey fans photographed on one night!
2019 is here already and it’s gearing up to be an incredible year! There are so many great things in store! One of those things is our photographer training resource, Headshot Method, launching in early 2019. Headshot Method is dedicated to training professional photographers to deliver studio-quality headshots instantly at activations, conferences, and events. We’ve been connecting with so many amazing photographers already!
This month, we’re headed to Atlanta, Georgia to PPA’s Imaging USA Conference to teach the techniques we unpack in Headshot Method. If you’re a headshot photographer interested in growing your business to include large brands and events, we’d love to meet you there!

1. Keep your word with help from TODOIST.
A good relationship is built on trust and integrity. Keeping your word is SO VERY IMPORTANT! When you say you'll be at an appointment at 11am, be there at 11am (or earlier). If you say you'll deliver the paperwork this evening, deliver it! Do what you say you'll do...every day. Refuse to make promises that you know you can't keep. Making a promise you can't keep will damage the relationship you have with your client. In a world of disappointment and broken promises, a real estate agent who keeps their word with integrity stands out and gets noticed.
One tool we can't live without is Todoist. It's an app that is easy to use and helps you keep your tasks organized. Keep all your obligations in it, and you'll never forget the things you have to do! It makes keeping your word easy!
3. Care about your clients with help from HIGHRISE.
A little bit of kindness goes a long way. Does your client have a birthday? Is their mother sick? What can you do to make their day a little brighter? Little acts of kindness show that you care about your client, not just making money off of them. You want to build a trusting relationship, and that means going out of your way to be kind. When a client feels like you've gone above and beyond your duty, they are so happy to use you again and to refer you to their friends. If you want to stand out from the crowd, it's not enough to just do your duty. You've got to impress and do something unexpected. Care about your clients!
If someone refers a client to you, send them a thank you note with a gift card in it. They won't be expecting it and next time someone is looking for a real estate agent, guess who they'll think of...YOU!
You can use a tool like Highrise to stay organized. It's a simple customer relationship manager tool (CRM) that keeps track of your contacts, conversations, and important information about your clients. This tool will help you go above and beyond expectations!
3. Be reachable and communicate with help from NEWTON.
In a culture where everything is delivered immediately, clients get frustrated when they can't get the answers they need quickly. One way top real estate agents can stand out from other agents is to be reachable and communicate. If you're busy when a client leaves you a voicemail, send a text message or email immediately to say you're tied up but received their request. You're on it. You're looking out for them. Sometimes you can't give a answer right away. Just acknowledging their request puts them at ease that you're on their side and you're available for them. Great communication is the key to happy clients. Be reachable and communicate.

Corporate Headshot Wardrobe Guide: Choosing what to wear to your next headshot can be a very daunting task. Let One Tree Studio give you some guidance. Corporate Headshot Photographer serving Markham, Toronto and Niagara Region.
YOUR OUTFIT
Don’t stress! Keep it simple. Simple and minimalistic outfit choices will keep the focus of your headshot on your face.
A fitted collared shirt is a great choice for both men and women and will convey a classic and professional look. Do you look amazing in a certain colour? Wear it! The best outfit is one that makes you feel amazing.
We suggest you steer away from bold patterns as they will distract the viewers from what’s most important - your face! Bring a blazer or sports coat to throw on for a more corporate, layered look.
For men, ties with minimal pattern and muted colours are timeless and professional. Or you can skip the tie altogether and go with a pocket square.
For women, choose simple jewelry that won't easily date your picture.
HAIR & MAKEUP
You want to look your best for your headshots. Taking the time to style your hair and apply your makeup well makes a huge difference! Bring lipstick or powder for quick makeup touchups and a brush or comb to tame fly-away hair. If possible, we recommend having your hair and makeup professionally done before your shoot.
Our team is always equipped with hairspray and can help you with final touch-ups before your shoot.

Make sure to iron or have your outfit choices steamed and pressed before your headshot appointment.
Tailored and well fitting clothing will be most flattering.
Please note, the studio is not responsible for your wardrobe, hair style, or make up choices. If you are not happy with your choices, you’re welcome to book a second photo shoot at the standard headshot session rates and we’ll provide you with a second collection of headshots to choose from.
Beware of clothing that has a very fine pattern or detailing (for example: gingham, chambray shirts, fine checked material, etc.) Why? It’s to avoid moiré. Men’s dress shirts and suit jackets can have this problem. They can contain repetitive details (dots, lines, checks, stripes) that exceed the camera sensor resolution. The camera produces a strange-looking wavy pattern that can be distracting. When in doubt, bring lots of clothing options and we’ll help you choose the best outfits for you in front of the camera.
DRINK & SLEEP
This isn't a wardrobe tip, but it's probably one of the most important things to do in the days leading up to your headshot session. Drink lots of water and sleep well! This will do amazing things for your skin and your eyes, which are featured in your headshot high above anything you wear.

Step One: Touch Ups
Our professional makeup and hair stylist will treat conference attendees to a quick touch up! This makes a huge difference in the final images and people love the pampering! We're there to help everyone look their best!

Step Two: Headshots
Our professional photographer spends 1-2 minutes with each person, posing them for a flattering image. We provide at least 3 images per person on multiple backdrops so that guests can choose the look that best suits them. In the video below, you can see that we've provided a black, dark grey, and a high-key white look to each participant. Custom colours are available. We've carefully chosen the most flattering lighting that looks fantastic! We shoot with Canon pro DSLR cameras and L-Series lenses for incredibly crisp, high-quality images.
Step Three: Edit and Export
Our image technician quickly edits the images, adjusting exposure and applying our custom One Tree look to each image. When everything looks just right, they send the images to the iPad kiosks and to the live slideshow of images. Our slideshow scrolls through the images we've taken at your event along with any sponsor advertising you'd like us to include, so that participants know exactly who they can thank for the headshot experience.
Step Four: Email Images
At our Image Sharing Stations, participants use our iPad kiosks to easily email or text all of their images and receive them immediately! Within minutes, people have their new headshots and can update their LinkedIn profile pictures!

We had the pleasure of serving up hundreds of headshots at the Rogers Enterprise Business Unit Sales Rally this month at the Sheraton Centre Toronto. Have a peak at our behind the scenes video and the results of this hardworking group of individuals!
One Tree Studio had the pleasure of serving the Rogers Enterprise Business Unit at their annual sales rally at the Sheraton Centre Toronto last week. Hundreds of conference attendees were treated to complimentary studio-quality headshots that were delivered instantly by email!
Our photography team planned a carefully choreographed headshot experience. From the hair and make up touch ups with our professional stylist, all the way to the instant image delivery at our kiosks; each attendee moved through the process with ease and we received fantastic feedback! (Please note: These images have not been retouched - just naturally great lighting!)
The final result was 909 headshot images delivered instantly to 268 people over the course of 6 hours of shooting. For this event, that's an average of 1m20sec per person, and 2.5 headshot images delivered per minute. Now that's fast! New corporate LinkedIn headshots for the executives from Rogers Communications at their Leadership Conference at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
One Tree Studio Inc. had the pleasure of serving the executives of Rogers Communications last week at their Leadership Conference at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. As executive business men and women, it's a challenge to find the time to update headshots for use on LinkedIn and on the corporate website.

Rolling out the Red Carpet for dentalcorp
One Tree Studio Inc. had the pleasure of providing our photography services at Dental Corp's annual Partner Conference 2016 held in Toronto. Guests enjoyed their time at the Park Hyatt Toronto, Oliver and Bonocini's Malaparte, and at The One Eighty throughout the weekend. They also enjoyed a screening of "Brain of Fire" at TIFF. One Tree Studio provided a red carpet photo experience, event photography and a live slideshow throughout the successful event.
One Tree Studio had the privilege of providing an assortment of photography services at dentalcorp's 2016 Partner Conference in Toronto. This fantastic weekend was great opportunity to showcase the variety of first class photography we provide. With our event photography, our Pro Studio Booth's red carpet experience, and our live slideshow of images - our team had dentalcorp's event completely covered.
The conference was held at the Park Hyatt Toronto. Spouses enjoyed a private fashion show and refreshments at Holt Renfrew on Bloor St.
After enjoying a screening of the film "Brain on Fire" at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival), the guests headed to Oliver and Bonacini's Malaparte for the red carpet treatment and cocktail reception. One Tree Studio provided our red carpet photographic experience in our Pro Studio Booth and the guests received framed photos to take home and enjoy. With our talented photographers, beautiful studio lighting set up, pro camera gear, and instant image displays, the guests were captured with the most flatering light and were able to see their images right away. We are always raising the bar when it comes to providing a premium mobile studio experience!
On Saturday, One Tree Studio provided event photography and a live slideshow experience as the guests enjoyed celebrating 5 years of success at The One Eighty in Toronto. Guests were able to enjoy our images right away on the large screen TV. The evening was a huge success and was topped off with a brilliant sunset from the 51st floor.
Magen Boys did a fantastic job coordinating and providing the entertainment for the incredible night.
The entire weekend was coordinated by Julie Fotheringham and Rebecca O'Toole, the amazing and talented team at Hageman Communications.

LinkedIn Headshots and Photo Booth for Markham College and University Students
Our professional headshots and our fun photo booth are combined in One Tree Studio's "Back-to-Back Booth" experience. A college and university group from Markham Bible Chapel recently were treated to One Tree Studio's first-class service where we provided LinkedIn profile pictures and a fun photo booth experience.
'NETWORK' is a great group of college and university students that meets at Markham Bible Chapel. We recently served them with our signature "Back-to-Back Booth"! Our Back-to-Back Booth features our Pro Studio Booth on one side taking headshots and our Studio Booth on the other side for some photo booth fun. The night was fantastic! Each of the students received fun photo booth prints as a memento of their time with the group and a professional headshot to use as they apply for jobs and for use on their LinkedIn profiles.
